• 2023..Reflection

2023 Review…Started with a bang; a celebration. I’m a January girl, an Aquarius Goddess. Celebrated in my birthday in happy place…sand, beach, sea and with Mother Nature as the common denominator. 2023 was my Wanderlust pony that came to a climax with a trip to Brazil….to be continued…2024 #thewanderlustdiaries

In 2023 I’ve learned to let go of a lot; people and things. I’ve stopped trying to fix people as I realize that this behavior as a source of my stress and anxiety. So, I’ve become a little more selfish and more focussed on my spiritual health

In 2024 my blog will focus on healthy living. I will be sharing tips on maintaining spiritual balance, healthy lifestyle with exercise and healthy eating habits.

I’m very excited to share my experiences with you all and I hope that you guys will drop in to share some of your ideas and experiences with me. I know that we can learn from each other.

So please bear with me as I share my workout routines, meals, self care activities, body and soul maintenance, and mental health care.

Lentil Bread: Ingredients: Red lentils(soak overnight), 3tbs olive oil, 1Cup of Greek yogurt, pinch of salt, 1tsp of baking powder, 6 chopped dates, and 2 eggs. Blend all ingredients and baked for 30 to 45 minutes at 350′. This is high in protein and low in carbs.

High blood pressure is a silent killer; if it goes undiagnosed and untreated it can lead to poor cardiac health as mentioned in my previous post. During my last PCP visit I found that my blood pressure was elevated and I’ve taken steps towards getting it under control.

I have Increased my physical activities and switched to a plant based diet. I must mention that since the Covid 19 pandemic I’ve gained more than 20lbs. So far I’ve lost 9lbs; not to mention a flatter tummy and less bloating.

My diet now consists of mostly fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and occasionally fish. Above is a Lentil bread that I made; I’ve also made oat flour bread, sweet potato bread, and have found very creative ways to prepare my veggies.

My favorite Caribbean foods are no longer part of my diet…unfortunately. Maybe I will indulge at times!!!! #eggball, #cassavaball, #roti

  • Random conversation…an evening with my aunt…

I have this yearning, an intense desire for knowledge of my female ancestors. The women who came before me; and the women before them. Whose shoulders do I stand on; who are these strong, powerful Goddesses that protects and guides me?

For me, I believe that learning about your ancestors and having a deep understanding of where you cane from gives you a sense of self worth, belonging and value of family.

My mother came from a large family; eight sisters and two brothers. My mother died six years ago. My one regret is that I did not have conversations with her about our ancestors. As of today I have only two aunts that are still alive; one of which I’m close with and who is currently the historian and griot of the family.

I visited my aunt today; we sat and talked for hours. I learned so much; I discovered information about my family I didn’t know existed; I had great aunts, and great uncles. Even stories about my mom and her sisters younger years…chasing and confronting cheating boyfriends to family members who were gay, and of my grandfather fathering three children outside of his marriage.

I look forward to more of these conversation…this experience was an eye opener for me…I need to know more about these interesting people… #ancestors #family #heritage #pearlzduaghter #aunt #familytree #infidelity

  • Random Conversation: the skin you’re in…

A friend of mine expressed disgust and frustration about a male friend’s audacity to wear “designer” flip flops” exposing feet that were undesirable of public adoration. Designer flip flops or not; good skin care of all parts of your anatomy should be a consistent part of maintaining your personal appearance. Remember that nails; toes and fingers, “are considered a dermal appendage, which means there are produced from skin”. So, regular manicure, pedicure, and a daily moisturizing routine is an excellent way of keeping your nails and skin looking their best. Below are some products that will help your skin, especially your feet, stay looking their best.

  • Sister Sister Trip

A trip with friends is fun; however friendships fade over time. Spending time with your sister is priceless and the memories will last forever.

Live well and travel often!!! There’s a saying the water is sacred; it is….at the beach, lake, river, or stream. Well, rafting on the Martha Brae River in Jamaica will certainly transport you in sacred state of mind where your spiritual emotions will be connected with nature…the sounds you hear while the raft dances on the water and your guide throws his stick from left to right sounds like a dj sound clash with Mother Nature…absolutely enthralling! #marthabraeriver #piperscove #pearlzdaughter #sisters #vacation #music #nature

  • Random conversation…

A random conversation with a family member about another family who is over 60 yrs old having a child with a younger woman in her 30’s. I voiced my opinion…I thought that due age the child is at certain health risks: Autism, downs syndrome, and blood disorders such as leukemia; the woman is at risk of experiencing a miscarriage due to low sperm quality.

Aside from the health risks; me being funny I said…when that child is ready to go on a rollercoaster, play soccer, or basketball…will he be ready and able?

Just my random thoughts…as I sip my Saturday lemon ginger mimosa #wholefoodsrooftop
